The AC44i locomotive is the largest Brazilian engine produced by GE Transportation in the city of Contagem in the state of Minas Gerais. It is a diesel-electric locomotive with an alternate electric current, 4500HP and 195.000Kg. The locomotive has 63% of its components manufactured in Brazil and it is at the moment, the most important locomotive in the transport of commodities such as soy, sugar, crude oil, bauxite, etc. Those locomotives can be seen in operation in the states of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro hauling freight cars to Santos (SP) harbor.
